Meet the twins: a masterstroke of varietal blending from Chile’s winemaking legend, Aurelio Montes.
On their own, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon shine, but when paired up, these two classic varieties complement each other perfectly.
It’s a sensational double bill: wonderful richness, structure and fruit from the Cabernet, with smooth, velvety texture from the Malbec—adding up to a wine that’s greater than the sum of its parts while the oak aging contributes with subtle notes of vanilla and liqueur and its soft tannins provide an specially elegant finish.
After a few minutes, you may smell vanilla bean, leather and dried cherry. You can discern tastes of rocky soil and cinnamon, as well as bell pepper and sun dried tomato. A wine that is full-bodied and dry. Pair this one with broiled lamb, creamy rice or veal marsala. The producer is Montgras from Valle de Colchagua, Chile.
From the winery: A blend of many old world varietals: Zinfandel, Barbera, Carignane, Petite Sirah, Sangiovese, Syrah, Negroamaro and Nebbiolo; that were grown on the hillsides of the Ukiah Valley. This wine has a dark purple-garnet color, with fruity aromas and flavors of plums, blackberry jam, spice and earth with hints of toasty oak. Rich full flavors, ample tannins and balanced acidity seamlessly carry through to a long, complex finish.
