Black jammy blends of plum, blackberry, and black currants lead the charge on fruit and cassis is creeping in now with the age. Highlighting the fruit is vanilla and a cinnamon clove combination and an essence of black olive.
Obsidian Cabernet
This wine, from the upstart Red Hills AVA in Lake County, California, is a truly delightful example of a high-elevation Cabernet. Featuring primary notes of cassis and dark blackberry, along with some notes of red plum. You may also discern hints of cocoa, clove, and cinnamon sugar cookies, a testament to the unique practice of aging the wine for 18 months in Hungarian Oak. This is a great steak wine, but will go very well with lamb, stews, and barbeque as well.
